ecodoku
Product Design Studio Project
Eco-doku is a reusable Sudoku board crafted from repurposed wood sourced from local cabinet woodshops, designed with sustainability and timeless entertainment in mind. Featuring preset puzzle sheets and double-sided pieces for custom setups, Eco-doku allows users to reset and enjoy their boards indefinitely, offering an eco-friendly alternative to disposable puzzles.

Preset Sheets: We designed interchangeable preset sheets with pre-filled numbers and blank spaces for gameplay. Each double-sided sheet offers two puzzles, totaling 34 games. Created in Adobe Illustrator and printed on 60 lb cardstock, the sheets slide beneath a clear acrylic layer, allowing players to easily swap in their preferred puzzle.
Grid: We created a 9x9 grid from cherry wood using an interlocking slot system. First, we cut slots into flat pieces of wood, then sliced them into uniform sticks matching the slot width. These sticks fit together precisely, forming a sturdy grid that sits above the preset sheets for gameplay.
Pieces: The playing pieces were laser-cut and double-sided, with numbers rasterized on one side and the background on the other. This made it easier to quickly spot the number you need. The design supports both preset puzzles and personalized custom puzzles, enhancing flexibility and user experience.

epop shop
In the fall of 2024, Ecodoku was one of 11 products showcased at the Firefly Handmade Holiday Market on Pearl Street in Boulder. A group of third-year environmental product design students worked in teams of three to design, prototype, and produce sustainable products suitable for Christmas gifts.
my team
I was part of the "Games, Play, and Toy" group and collaborated with Sasha Weil and Mia Archuleta to develop Eco-doku.
By the end of the day, Ecodoku sold out. In total, the shop raised $5,500 in sales, which will be reinvested into future projects for the program.
